Nightlife

In the history of Somers Point, the night life has been exciting. From the early 1900s there have been night clubs, theaters, dance clubs, restaurants, and bars. Around the time of the '60s, Rock N'Roll was rocking Somers Point. Clubs and bars on Bay Avenue featured a multitude of bands and entertainers. On the same section of Bay Avenue there were Bayshores, Tony Mart's, and Steels Ship Bar. The competition between them only brought in more people, making Bay Avenue a popular entertainment strip. The music would go on all night, often times, with more than one band. Many of their patrons still rave about the memories they have about those glory days. Even though Tony Mart's is no longer around, there are reunions still held to share these memories. Recently there was an event at Greate Bay Country Club for "The Music that Made Tony Mart's Famous"
