Eddie and the Cruisers
One day, the Marotta family got a phone call from a realtor from Atlantic City, NJ. He told them he had a movie company that was interested in shooting a movie in their establishment, Tony Marts. They met, talked, the Marotta's showed them their scrapbooks and the rest is history!

The film portrays a 1960's rock n' roll band called Eddie and the Cruisers. The band first makes a name for itself while playing regularly at a Somers Point, NJ nightclub, Tony Marts. It is there that they take on their keyboard player. The band eventually starts to do their own songs and record an album, which becomes a hit. The band's second album is basically rejected and Eddie is distraught. He drives off, crashing his car and is presumed dead. No body was ever found...hmm, did he really die?
In 1983, "Eddie and the Cruisers" was released. Scenes were shot both in Somers Point and in Ocean City. Various familiar sites are in the movie, such as Dolphin Dock and the 9th Street Bridge....and of course Tony Marts! An integral part of the movie is when Eddie (Michael Pare) drives his '57 Chevy off of the Ocean City Bridge and is presumed dead. Some Somers Point residents participated in the movie with small acting parts or as extras, along with some real employees and patrons of Tony Marts.
